A convention center (American English; conference centre outside the USA) is a large building that is designed to hold a convention, where individuals and groups gather to promote and share common interests. Convention centers typically offer sufficient floor area to accommodate several thousand attendees. Very large venues, suitable for major trade shows, are sometimes known as exhibition centres. Convention centers typically have at least one auditorium and may also contain concert halls, lecture halls, meeting rooms, and conference rooms. Some large resort area hotels include a convention center.
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

The National Convention (French: Convention nationale) was a single-chamber assembly in France from 20 September 1792 to 26 October 1795 (4 Brumaire IV under the Convention's adopted calendar) during the French Revolution. It succeeded the Legislative Assembly and founded the First Republic after the insurrection of 10 August 1792. The Legislative Assembly decreed the provisional suspension of King Louis XVI and the convocation of a National Convention which was to draw up a constitution. At the same time it was decided that deputies to that convention should be elected by all Frenchmen twenty-five years old or more, domiciled for a year and living by the product of their labor. The National Convention was therefore the first French assembly elected by universal male suffrage, without distinctions of class.
The election took place from 2 to 6 September 1792 after the election of the electoral colleges by primary assemblies on 26 August. Owing to the abstention of aristocrats and anti-republicans and the fear of victimization the voter turnout in the departments was low – 11.9% of the electorate, compared to 10.2% in the 1791 elections, in spite of the fact that that the number of eligible to vote had doubled. Therefore, universal suffrage had very little impact. On the whole, the electorate returned the same sort of men that the active citizens had chosen in 1791.

Designing An Inhabited Sculptural Form: The Wujin Lotus Conference Center, Changzhou China In Hindu, Buddhist and Egyptian religions, the Lotus is considered a sacred flower as it symbolizes the potential of awakening, spiritual growth, and enlightenment, and the flower grows from subterranean mud toward aboveground warmth and light. Many believe that humans are like Lotus flowers: the conditions producing life are not always ideal, but those circumstances do not stop the Lotus, and should not stop the person, from rising through adversity, opening its essence to the sun. With those ideas in mind, The Wujin Lotus Conference Center is constructed in the image of a Lotus flower. The building is situated on a 30,000 square foot artificial lake, close to an eight-acre park in the city of C...

The fates of China, Russia, and the United States, are profoundly bound to the Asian continent. Historically, these powers have shaped and been shaped by Asia, and it is clear that Asia continues to factor centrally in their strategic thinking. In recent years, both Russia and the United States have paid more attention to Asia as a central theater in 21st century geopolitics. With its Belt and Road Initiative and expansive activities in maritime Asia, China is also playing a more active role in Asian geopolitics today. Yet all three powers also face significant uncertainty. The election of Donald Trump thrust uncertainty into the future of US foreign policy, including in Asia. The recent 19th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party was widely interpreted as a prelude to a more assertive Ch...

Monday October 17, 2016. Shenzhen, China. Joseph Chu, Taipei Financial Center Corporation, presents at the 2016 China Conference Session 3c: Building Operation. The sheer size and complexity of a building like TAIPEI 101, along with the international nature of the project and newness of LEED v4, can present particular challenges to project teams. Notwithstanding this, TAIPEI 101 is in many ways representative of all multi-tenant office buildings, as are the plurality of LEED O+M projects, and therefore the success of this particular building offers a relevant case study for buildings of this type. The paper illustrates key issues for the project team relating to the increased stringency of the new system.
With international attention focused on a potential U.S.-North Korea summit meeting in May, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a surprise trip to Beijing in late March to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The North Korean leader’s visit to Beijing, his first foreign visit since assuming power in late 2011, came amid strained bilateral relations in recent years. Kim and Xi appear to have reinvigorated the historical bonds between the two countries and reaffirmed China’s crucial role in the future of the Korean Peninsula. This conference will explore the dynamics and tensions of the historical relationship between China and North Korea, the potential impact of Korean reunification on China, and China’s role in a limited military conflict and its aftermath. The Chicago Council on Global Affairs welcomes CNN’s Fareed Zakaria for the sold-out grand opening of its new Conference Center. This election season, candidates and commentators alike have claimed the United States is losing its power to influence and shape geopolitics. Much of the Middle East is in turmoil, China is pursuing an aggressive course of action in the South China Sea, and Russia’s offensives in Ukraine have even raised the prospect of war with NATO. It is not for lack of trying: there was Obama’s attempt to sway British voters in advance of the EU referendum, his “red line” in Syria, the much-discussed pivot to Asia. Yet the nagging concern that America is losing its mojo is contradicted by the Iran deal and the opening of relations with Cuba, foreign policy successes that d...
